Closet Refresh

Do you know what the winter months are good for? A closet refresh. Yes, let’s roll up our sleeves, get down on our knees or up on the step ladder and clean up your closet. Your wardrobe deserves a rejuvenation...and so do you!

Your closet is an “every day” zone, much like your kitchen. It’s where most of us start and end our day. As a stylist, your closet should be your haven. It shouldn’t be a place that overwhelms, frustrates or causes confusion. Instead, a closet should ignite joy and a sense of pride.

Now, I’m sure some of you are balking as you read this. You’re probably thinking that there is no way my closet is my haven. But, it can be!

Let me introduce you to the three (3) D’s - DEFINITE, DUMP and DONATE. These three simple words carry a lot of power when it comes to cleaning up your closet.

As you sort through your wardrobe, create three separate piles for each of the D’s. The DEFINITE pile is filled with the garments, shoes and accessories that you always wear, love and cannot imagine your life without. The DUMP pile has the items that you never wear, have been loved way too much and don’t spark excitement anymore. And lastly, the DONATE pile is comprised of the gently-worn pieces that still deserve love and will surely bring happiness to someone else.

Once you’ve determined what stays and what goes, you can then get your closet into tiptop shape. Fix your hangers, fold your clothes, line up your shoes and get it organized. Set it up to your liking so when you walk in or open the door, you feel calm and content. I promise, it’s worth the work, plus your wardrobe will thank you!
